Light Industry and Chemical Engineering
The major of Light industry and chemical engineering in Hebei University of Science & Technology evolved from its original major of dyeing and finishing engineering, and is the only higher education discipline in Hebei province authorized to train both undergraduates and postgraduates in this specialism. The goal of the subject is to train engineering and technical personnel who have the theoretical background of chemistry, chemical engineering, high polymer science as well as computer technology, master the basic principles and process of dyeing and finishing, and possess the comprehensive ability of engineering management , scientific research and product development for textiles dyeing and finishing enterprises and institutions. Another task of this subject is to supply postgraduates and doctorial students with this major background for relevant colleges and universities.
The light industry and chemical engineering discipline comprises "dyeing and finishing engineering" and "ecological textile chemicals" professional directions. The former focuses on the engineering ability of dyeing and finishing, and the latter emphasizes the ability of textile auxiliaries development. The main basic courses include inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, biological chemistry, principles of chemical engineering, etc. The main professional courses consist of fiber chemistry and physics, dyestuff chemistry, dyeing and finishing technology, textile functional finishing, chemistry of textile auxiliaries, standard and inspection of textiles, English for light industry and chemical engineering, synthesis principle of fine chemicals, preparation and application of dyeing and finishing auxiliaries, etc.
