The fashion design major of Hebei University of Science and Technology began enrolling in 1988. After more than 30 years of development, it has formed relatively distinctive school-running characteristics among similar majors in China. Our school's major in fashion design is different from similar traditional majors in China. Based on the specialty of Hebei Province and international development, the fundamental goal is to cultivate innovative, international, and application-oriented fashion design professionals with distinctive characteristics. Incorporating international cultural knowledge, we truly integrate technology, art, and theoretical knowledge. Based on Hebei, we are a new type of international fashion design professionals. Our goal is to train new fashion design professionals based in Hebei Province and facing the world.

The major of clothing and costume design of Hebei University of Science and Technology is "brand characteristic major of Hebei Province" in China, and has the right to grant master's degree of "art design (costume)".

In March 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Hebei University of Science and Technology and Sungshin University cooperated to carry out the "undergraduate education project of clothing and costume design", which was included in the national college enrollment plan, with an annual enrollment of 100 students for Hebei Province, China. The students of this project have studied in Hebei University of Science and Technology for four years, completed the requirements of the training program, and met the conditions for degree awarding, they have been awarded the undergraduate diploma and bachelor's degree certificate of Hebei University of Science and Technology; if they have excellent academic performance, and they can voluntarily apply for two years of study in Sungshin University in the second semester of sophomore year. If they meet the requirements of the Korean training program and meet the conditions for degree awarding, mutual recognition of Chinese and Korean credits can be given, and a graduation certificate, a bachelor's degree certificate from Hebei University of Science and Technology can be awarded, and a bachelor's degree certificate from Sungshin University can be awarded.

In 2017, the Sino-Korea cooperative education program successfully passed the qualification evaluation of the cooperative education program conducted by the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center(CDGDC).

On the basis of cooperative education program, in 2019, the fashion design major of Hebei University of Science and Technology was selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites. There are only 9 undergraduate colleges and universities with this major in more than 200 universities nationwide.

In the past three years, the students of fashion design major have won more than 200 awards in well-known clothing competitions in China. According to the graduation data in recent years, the postgraduate entrance examination rate of fashion design in China and South Korea is significantly higher than that of similar domestic universities.

Each year, Hebei University of Science and Technology and Sungshin University jointly hold the graduation works exhibition in China, The design works well integrate the design concept and design style of Chinese and South Korean clothing, reflect the distinctive fashion trend characteristics, and are highly praised by the audience and the industry.
